In 2001, he joined the Department of Automotive Engineering at Tsinghua University to help establish the automotive styling and body design discipline. He developed and taught several core courses in styling design as the lead instructor. His students now work in design centers at companies such as Audi, Toyota, Pan Asia, SAIC, and BAIC. Over the years, he has mentored and led teams to win numerous international and domestic automotive design awards.
In 2003, he founded the Tsinghua Automotive Styling Design Center, providing professional design services to automotive companies and leading several important styling design projects.
In 2012, he was invited as a visiting professor to Politecnico di Milano in Italy. From 2009 to 2010, he served as a visiting scholar at Coventry School of Art and Design and the Royal College of Art in the UK, as well as other art and design institutions across Europe, where he engaged in academic exchange, taught international design courses, and held a solo design exhibition. During this period, he participated in and led multiple international collaborative research projects and design initiatives. In 2004, he was also invited to teach design courses in Germany, Japan, and other countries.
