On November 28, the inauguration ceremony for the Tsinghua University - Seres Automobile Co., Ltd. Joint Research Center for Battery Innovation Technology (hereafter referred to as the "Joint Research Center") was held at Tsinghua University. Prior to the ceremony, LI Luming, President of Tsinghua University, and PENG Gang, Vice President of Tsinghua University, met with ZHANG Xinghai, Chairman (Founder) of Seres Group, HE Liyang, President of Seres Automobile Co., Ltd., and their delegation at the West Hall of the Gong Zi Ting. Both sides exchanged views on deepening university-enterprise collaborative innovation, promoting the translation of scientific and technological achievements, and strengthening talent cultivation. PENG Gang; OUYANG Minggao, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor at the School of Vehicle and Mobility, Tsinghua University, and Director of the Joint Research Center; ZHANG Xinghai; and HE Liyang jointly unveiled the plaque for the Joint Research Center. FENG Xuning, Associate Professor at the School of Vehicle and Mobility, Tsinghua University, and Deputy Director of the Joint Research Center, presided over the inauguration ceremony.
PENG Gang stated that Tsinghua University consistently adheres to serving national strategies. At this critical juncture of planning for the 15th Five-Year Plan, deepening university-enterprise cooperation and conducting organized research to tackle key problems is a crucial pathway for breaking through core key technologies in the battery field and serving the nation's goal of achieving greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology. He expressed hope that the Joint Research Center, addressing the major strategic needs of national energy security and green transition, would fully integrate Tsinghua University's strengths in frontier fundamental research with Seres' rich experience in industrial practice. The aim is to strive for systematic breakthroughs in the next-generation battery technology system, contributing Tsinghua's strength to the high-quality development of China's new energy vehicle industry and the construction of a modern industrial system.
ZHANG Xinghai stated that the inauguration of the Joint Research Center marks a new phase of deep integration and collaborative innovation in the cooperation between both parties, carrying their shared expectations and profound considerations for the future of the industry. He expressed hope that the Joint Research Center would become a "stronghold for tackling challenges" in battery and safety technologies, a "hub for transforming" innovative achievements, and a "training base" for high-end talent, providing solid support for the development of the new energy vehicle industry and the continuous advancement of power battery technology.
Heads of relevant units from the School of Vehicle and Mobility, the Research Institute, and the Domestic Cooperation Office of Tsinghua University participated in the related activities.
